On February 15, TinT-FollowTaxes hosted a webinar analyzing COP29 outcomes and their impact on African nations, with over 50 participants, including climate advocates and CSO representatives. Dr. Anka, Director of Climate Change at Kano’s Ministry of Environment, highlighted key policy shifts and Africa’s evolving role in global climate negotiations.

Discussions focused on the $300 billion annual climate finance commitment, challenges in accessing funds, and the need for stronger advocacy to ensure African nations receive fair support for adaptation and mitigation. Participants stressed the importance of holding developed nations accountable while exploring domestic financing solutions.

The webinar reinforced the need for tailored climate finance mechanisms and strategic policy engagement. Insights from the session will inform recommendations to enhance Africa’s climate resilience and drive more inclusive negotiations in future COP summits.
